PowerPC processors are very highly rated in the industry because of their robustness, reliability and computing power. They also normally incorporate communications-oriented peripherals with several Ethernet interfaces, several CAN’s, communications protocol accelerators etc.
RBZ is experienced in developing Hardware and integrating Linux into Freescale PowerPC processors like the MPC5125 which has dual Ethernet and a video controller, or the P1020 with high-level peripherals such as PCIe, SATA and GigaEthernets.
In the following example the MPC5125 is used, with two Ethernet outputs, HDMI video output and two master USB’s.
Another example which uses PowerPC is this industrial control unit, which includes an Ethernet switch on one of the uP outputs to connect the computers in a loop and a second service Ethernet switch for computer maintenance.
